Federal Communications Commission Adopts Pilot Program Under Rural Health Care Mechanism (9/28/06)

On Tuesday, September 26, 2006, the Federal Communications Commission announced the establishment of a pilot program to help public and non-profit health care providers build state and region-wide broadband networks dedicated to the provision of health care services, and connect those networks to Internet2.  The pilot program will fund up to 85% of the costs incurred to deploy state or regional broadband networks dedicated to health care and up to 85% of the costs of connecting the regional and/or statewide to Internet2.

The Rural Health Care Customer Support Center will be closed on Monday, September 4, 2006 in observance of Labor Day. The Customer Support Center will resume normal operations on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. EDT.

USAC Names Bill England Vice President of the Rural Health Care Division (8/25/06)

USAC today announced that Bill England has been named Vice President of the Rural Health Care Division. Mr. England brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position and has been deeply involved with the administration of the Rural Health Care Program since its inception.

“I applaud the selection of Bill England to lead the Rural Health Care Program,” said Jay H. Sanders, M.D., chairman of USAC’s Rural Health Care Committee. “Bill has worked for many years to realize the potential of communication and information technologies to improve access, quality, and cost of health care.”

“He brings a depth of experience and sensitivity to the needs of program participants that is unparalleled,” added Dr. Sanders. “As Chairman of the Rural Health Care Committee, I genuinely look forward to working with Bill and continuing to learn from him in his new capacity." Mr. England’s appointment is effective immediately.

for August 10, 2006 at 2pm.  The Rural Health Care Program will hold its
next conference call on September 14, 2006 at 2pm.

Funding Year 2005 closed on June 30, 2006 (6/30/06)

The FCC mandated deadline for submitting Funding Year 2005 Form 466 and Form 466-A was June 30, 2006. The Rural Health Care Program cannot process any electronic or paper applications received after this date. If you have any questions, please call us at 1-800-229-5476.

The Rural Health Care Customer Support Center will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 in observance of the Fourth of July. The Customer Support Center will resume normal operations on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. EDT.

FY2005 Form 466 and 466-A due June 30, 2006 (5/30/06)

Rural Health Care Applicants are reminded that all Form 466(s) and 466-A(s) must be submitted no later than June 30, 2006.  Forms received after this date, will not be processed.  If you have any questions regarding your application, please call us at 1-800-229-5476.

FY2006 Full Year Support deadline June 2, 2006 (5/30/06)

Unless you have an Evergreen Contract that does not expire during Fund Year 2006, as verified by RHC in a prior fund year, you must submit a Form 465 for Funding Year 2006 by June 2, 2006 in order to receive a full year’s support.   

Please remember that an applicant must wait 28-days for service provider bids after Form 465 is posted on the RHCD website before entering into an agreement.  The end of this 28-day period is shown as the “Allowable Contract Date” for each applicant on the RHCD website under “Search Posted Services”.  In order to receive a full year’s support from the Rural Health Care Program, an applicant’s allowable contract date must be on or before the July 1, 2006 start of the funding year.

Application Window for Funding Year 2006 is Now Open! (3/13/06)

We are pleased to announce that the application window for Funding Year 2006 is open. Applicants are now able to post their Form 465 for Funding Year 2006. (July 1, 2006- June 30, 2007)

Below are some tips and links to our website to help you with this process.

  1. To be eligible for a full year's support, an applicant must post Form 465 by June 2, 2006. Remember you must wait 28-days for bids before entering into a service agreement.
  2. If you have an " evergreen contract " but you might change your service or renew your contract during Fund Year 2006, you should post a Form 465. (Evergreen contracts must have been verified by RHCD in a prior Fund Year.)
  3. If you have enabled E-Cert, go to Applicant Login . If you have not enabled E-Cert, but are eligible as a prior applicant, login and enable E-Cert before completing Form 465. If you wish, you may also download Excel or PDF versions of Form 465.
