Eligibility
Directly Affected Schools and Libraries
Schools and libraries in counties designated by FEMA for individual assistance
(see table below) and that sustained substantial damage due to Hurricane
Katrina are eligible to apply for funds to restore their networks to pre-Hurricane
Katrina levels. These schools and libraries are called “directly affected.”
Indirectly Affected Schools and Libraries
Schools and libraries that have accepted evacuees may request additional funds
to account for the increased population. Generally, you will need to show
that the number of students or patrons served has increased by at least ten
percent.
